High Honor also benefits Foundation

October 19, 2024 was a very special meeting of the Paradise Hills United Methodist Men (PHUMM).  In addition to the usual PHUMM business, there were presentations of the two highest United Methodist Men (UMM) awards to John White, PHUMM President presided over by Pastor Jared Secret.

John White was given the UMM Lifetime Achievement Award by Richard Groff, PHUMC’s first Lifetime Achievement Award.  This award included a certificate and pin for the Lifetime Achievement Award.  Life Achievement Awards are given to people who have given years of service to local, district, conference, jurisdiction, or national organizations.

President was given by the highest UMM award, a John Wesley Fellowship, by Jim Mogford, former New Mexico Conference President and a John Wesley Fellow himself.  This award included a certificate and a pin for the John Wesley Fellowship.  John White is John Wesley Fellow number 891.

John White is the second UMM Lifetime Achievement Award from Paradise Hills United Methodist Church (PHUMC).  (The first person from PHUMC getting a Lifetime Achievement Award was Richard Groff).  John is the fourth John Wesley Fellow from PHUMC.  Like all the previous PHUMM awardees, John White was not aware he was a nominee for either of these awards. Fellows in the Society of John Wesley are known by their witness, vision and stewardship that enhance and strengthen the mission and ministry of the church.

To receive a UMM Lifetime Achievement Award, the person must be nominated and a fee of $250 paid to the United Methodist Men’s Foundation, UMMF.  To receive a John Wesley Fellowship, the person must be nominated and a fee of $1000 paid to the UMMF.  UMMF is the organization that provides funding for the efforts and ministry of the General Commission on United Methodist Men, GCUMM, and the UMM National Association of Conference Presidents, NACP.  GCUMM and NACP provides funding for men’s and youth ministry.  Donations were made for John White’s UMM awards by volunteers from PHUMC and PHUMM.
